Question by Addy’s Mommy ;O): 36 weeks pregnant and doctor wants me to start Valtrex?
I’m uncomfortable taking any medicines during pregnancy. He gave me the ultimatum today, I either start Valtrex for my HSV2 or I will have to have a c-section. Honestly, I would rather go with the c-section then take medicine. What would you do if you were me?

I was given Valtrex for fever blisters on my lips. I read up on it and ask my pharmacist and everything I researched said it was completely safe! Good luck!!

i can understand your concern but i would advice taking it a c section is very uncomfortably for 6 weeks after and with a normal birth your up and around straight away but it is your body do what you feel comfortable with explain to your doctor why you have such fear in taking it he might have leaflets to explain it all to you it might not be as bad as you thought
I would take the valtrex. I would rather take the medicine than have the longer recovery of the major surgery. At, 36wks the major development of the baby is over. Taking it isn’t going to make or break anything. Besides the doctor said you should. that would be enough for me.
Good luck!
I am in your position. And I would rather take the medicine than risk going into labor and delivering a child that would end up severely ill due to my problem.
You need to take the Valtrex.
A c-section is a serious surgery not to be taken lightly. It can in many instances, put your life and the life of your baby at risk….and those risks of you or your baby actually DYING are far greater than taking the Valtrex are.
