Ah, the first outbreak is the worst one. It should start to HELP in a couple of days but it will probably take around a week before it starts to heal completely. Its good that you are taking it right away because it can help prevent another outbreak from occurring. Just hang in there. If you have pain while urinating, try filling up a squirt bottle filled with cool or warm water (whichever you prefer) and squirt it continuously while you are urinating. It helps to dilute the urine and makes it less painful.
Feel better!

I have my first to and im on that valtrex to. Did they give you the cream to. It takes one week to heal but in 3 days it will start not to burn as much. I got mad to at people not telling me how Manny days it took. Just make shure your lips are cosed befor you pee and lean forward to so your pee wont sting the sores. Keep it clean and dry down there and it will start to heal in 3 days. Sorry to here that. If you need someone to chat to. You can email me.
It is best to start it as soon as you feel an outbreak. The sooner you start the faster it works. If you catch it soon enough in the future it may be just a slight 5 day problem. I’m sorry to hear you are having your first outbreak. That means you have been broken out for a few days and probably have 1 or 2 weeks of trouble ahead of you. It starts working fast but it takes longer to work the longer you wait to start a cycle. Your body needs to fight the virus and develop antibodies so the first one is usually the worst. It sounds worse than it is and don’t let the stigma of it all freak you out. You might have a problem every few months for one or two years and then it becomes a little irritation. I hope that helps.
First, let me offer my condolences on your diagnosis. I remember when I was first diagnosed. I felt angry and ashamed and like no one would ever love me again. That part gets better – it really does.
Since its your first outbreak, its very difficult to tell how long it will last. Some people have very very bad first outbreaks that last two or three weeks. Other people get milder ones that only last a few days. Either way, the antivirals will help shorten the length. Either way, if you don’t see any improvement in about two weeks – go back to your doctor.
Please know that, for most people, the first outbreak is the worst. It is rare for an outbreak to be as bad, or last as long, as the very first one. So no matter what happens, don’t feel like its going to be like this forever. Your symptoms will get less severe, and your emotional pain will subside. It’s hard to believe that, but its true.
And while I strongly encourage you to post questions that you have here on Y!A so that other, shyer people get learn from you, if you want to email me privately, please feel free to do that. I’ve had genital herpes for over 12 years now, and would be happy to answer your – or anyone elses – questions.
Good luck.
anyway once a person becomes infected, Herpes Simplex Virus lies dormant in the body, waiting for just the right conditions to become active again. There can be many triggers which activate the virus, such as eating arginine-rich foods (like chocolate, cola, beer, seeds and nuts); the onset of a cold or fever; sunburn; the menses cycle & any physical or emotional event that introduces stress to the body. Each person’s triggers are different, but all herpes sufferers have one thing in common–worrying about the next outbreak adds even more stress, which just feeds the vicious cycle and makes it worse!
And there is no real treatment that can cure herpes, but antiviral medications can shorten and prevent outbreaks during the period of time the person takes the medication. For example Herpeset is a good (probably the best) product. It works by stimulating your immune system to fight the HSV virus.
It worked and is working for me!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry Herpeset but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.herpeset.com/?aid=749165 . In addition, daily suppressive therapy for symptomatic herpes can reduce transmission to partners…!
since 2005 I got 5 outbreaks! every outbreak every ~6 months. every spring and every autumn! that was very hard time for me! then I started to use the proper diet for me and some herbal treatment and listen “Bobby McFerrin – Don’t Worry Be Happy” . Now I don’t have any outbreaks for about ~2 years!
good luck!
